When I set off on this virtual journey I knew that it would take a long time to cover this sort of distance, that’s why I set my original time frame as 18 months. And when I began I could only manage 5 or 10 minutes of cycling, now I can do 45 minutes.
Last week I made it to Bournemouth, a place I’ve been lucky enough to visit on a couple of occasions, with long beaches and some of the most expensive houses in Sandbanks - where I’m led to believe a decent number of premier league footballers reside (although with the exception of 1 or 2 I wouldn’t know a premier league footballer if I tripped over them)
If I was physically in Bournemouth this week the excitement wouldn’t be about strolling through the Marbella of England or walking along the prom near the beach which takes you from Sandbanks to Bournemouth. Though both would be delightful, instead it would be taking the opportunity to stop in and have a cuppa with my BFF and fellow writer Rachel and perhaps finally get to witness the weird way her other half (also a writer) Andy eats cake.
I’m not 405.5km into my journey and made the decision to set a new time goal. I want to have completed this cycle before I say Happy New Year to 2024. I don’t cycle every day - probably 4/5 days a week and I love it, it’s an outlet for some of the energy I don’t use sitting at a desk most of the day and I love the journey itself.
I’m looking forward to more virtual cycles and more kms covered.
