Merry Christmas
It feels like we’ve gone from July to December in a blink of an eye, but here we are. I took a look over my goals for 2023, it would be easy to say that I had failed because only 2 have been ticked off, but that would be nonsense!
I know when I set my goals for the year ahead that I’m actually unlikely to obtain them all, and that might be contrary from all the goal related advice you’ve ever received. The usual rule of thumb being that your goals should be achievable.
I would never set goals that were out of my control, so as much I would love it to happen, I wouldn’t set a goal of getting my Rowan books made into a major TV series, because that’s something I have very little influence on.
But saying I intend to write four books, for example, well that’s completely in my control.
My annual writing goals as set at a highly ambitious level to push me, so that what ever I do achieve it’ll be more than it would have been with a lesser target.
I’m happy to say that I’ll be going in to 2024 with some pretty lofty goals once again and as the next twelve months unfolds itself things will no doubt come a long and knock that plan completely off track and that’s okay.
It’s fairly easy for me to say that there will be a new Rowan book in the first quarter of 2024, it’s already written and I’m busy editing it at the moment, I ordered the cover last week and as soon as I’ve got it back then I’ll give you a sneak peek before the official unveiling.
There’s not been much in the way of writerly activities for me this last month, aside from writing that is, but a writer friend of mine from the Southampton (England) area told me that she was at a fair over the weekend, recommended Rowan to a person she got chatting with only to discover she’d already read the books! It’s hard to articulate how awesome that is to hear. I will be forever grateful for all my readers and always super exciting to find out about them in the wild.
With Christmas round the corner, remember that books make great presents and they’re easy to wrap :) you can also gift kindle books as well, so if you’re wondering what someone in your life might like this might be an idea.
And if you’d like to give an author a Christmas gift then we’d all love more fantastic reviews (and sales) so if you’ve read a book you loved then don’t forget to hope on to Amazon or Goodreads and give them a wee review, even if it’s a stars and no words review, we love them.
