Sycamore Gap and Other Adventures
August is gone! And it was a busy month. Lies She Didn’t Tell was published on the 11th on the 13th I was on a panel discussing PI crime fiction as part of UK Crime Book Club’s August Fest - if you missed this then pop over to my website and click on the events section where you will be able to watch the link.
To celebrate the release of my book I did some video chats with:
GB Ralph author of the Milverton Mysteries you can check out his webpage
Paul Ardoin Austin, USA Today Bestselling author of the Fenway Stevenson series check out his webpage
The amazing Marion Todd author of the DI Clare McKay series and fellow Scottish author you can find out more on her website
And last but not least TE Scott author of the Wronged Women’s Co-operative
You can watch any or all of these chats here
And then…I went on holiday in my little camper van, first stop was Hadrians Wall. I visited here when I was little about 7 or 8 I think, I was an add on for a Cub Scott Trip - my dad was the leader and I got to tag along on lots of trips and adventures I otherwise wouldn’t have. Anyway the wall has stuck with me despite it being so long ago, so it was brilliant to go back. Although I will say the section that we walked was considerably more hilly than the bit I remember doing as a child.
We walked all the way to Sycamore Gap, funnily enough I hadn’t realised it was on the wall and when someone asked me if I wanted to see it because of the famous film it’s featured in I said no it was because it’s on the cover of one of LJ Ross’ books.
I also went on a vintage steam train this holiday which I loved. I walked loads, rested lots, ate too much cake and just the about the right amount of ice cream. I wrote some new words and now that I’m back home I intend focusing on the next edits of book 5 Rowan.
What’s Coming Up?
Early in September something in my non writer life concludes which all being well means I’ll have more time for writing and publishing and the intention is to actually have a schedule, but I’m not making any promises just yet as I know how hectic life can be.
Also I’m going to Bloody Scotland. Last time I was there was 2014 - I know 9 years, how has that happened? I am super excited to be going and as well as going to some brilliant looking events I’m hoping to meet up with some wonderful writerly friends.
The second half of September is a get my head down and edit time - and I hope by the end of October I’ll be able to give you a title and a publication date for Rowan book 5
I hope you all enjoyed the short story I sent out for subscribers only last month. And if you’re new and didn’t receive it then send me a comment and I’ll make sure it heads your way asap.
Ps is it too early to get the hot chocolate and marshmallows out?
